Canada LP presented 2004 "Brightest IDEA Awards"
Dave
Pala, Eaton Electrical and Gerry Bignell, WESCO
Distribution Canada LP were presented with the 2004 Brightest
IDEA Awards at this year's Electro E-Biz Forum. Each year, one
manufacturer and one distributor representative is selected by
industry peers in recognition of their contributions to foster
and implement e-business process improvement in the electrical
industry.
Gerry Bignell was presented the electrical distributor award for
developing and producing the IDW flat file data standard called
EZVIEW/PIPE. This standard has been adopted as the alternative
for an EDI 832 price catalog and has enabled more manufacturers
to contribute data directly to the IDW. A long standing proponent
of IDW and IDX in the Canadian market place, Gerry is also chairman
of the IDEA Data Content Subcommittee and Vice Chairmen of the
IDEA Standards Committee.
Congratulations Dave and Gerry for your contributions and dedication
to Electrical Industry E-business initiatives. Well done and well
deserved!

WESCO
Wins Silver Metal Supplier Award Two Years in a Row
Abitibi
Consolidated Inc. implemented a Supplier Awards Program back in
2001 to recognize their best suppliers from across their enterprise.
The first ever winners were determined by a vote of all Abitibi
properties. Awards were made at a dinner hosted by Abitibi with
the Purchasing Managers from all Abitibi properties in attendance.
Abitibi
has over 16,000 suppliers, all of whom were eligible for the awards.
There are three categories, and in each category, Abitibi selected
Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. Wesco was judged in the "Services
and Maintenance" category. In addition to the awards in your
assigned category, the Three suppliers who won the Gold were also
eligible to win the "Supplier of the year" award.
We
are extremely pleased to announce that Wesco was awarded the Silver
medal in our category. Gold went to Canadian Bearings, and SKF
won the Bronze.
Abitibi
selected CB as the overall supplier of the year.
This
prestigious award is a result of a great effort on the part of
numerous WESCO branches and several National Account sales team
members. Building on solid relationships with the mills, WESCO's
proven National Account Programs and our extra effort service
in the branches helped deliver substantial added value for ACI
in 2002. We are especially proud that this award was based on
direct recognition from ACI employees, showing that where it really
counts WESCO Delivers.
WESCO
is delighted with this achievement and certainly we intend to
be the "Supplier of the Year" when the mills vote for
their choice in 2003. Abitibi Consolidated Inc., based in Montreal,
Quebec, is the world's leading newsprint and uncoated groundwood
manufacturer. They are the #1 recycler of old newspapers in the
world and the 5th leading producer of lumber in North America.
With
17,000 employees, ACI has ownership interests in 25 paper mills,
22 sawmills, 10 recycling centres and 3 remanufacturing facilities
in North America.
